CASTING

Production: Seder (working title) (Short Film)
Location: Montreal

Director: Beverly. It is a film about a Jewish family dinner, taking place at a Seder during Passover. It is meant to show the family tensions and interesting dynamics that go on when all members get together. It is also about the conflict of traditional and modern viewpoints, and the different ways people choose to celebrate their customs.

1. Female / 41-50 yrs. / Any Ethnicity. This character is the mother of the family, named SARAH. She can have dark features or look 'Jewish'. We are somewhat open to different looks. Her character is one that loves to follow the traditions of her religion, but what with her career and kids, she feels guilty because she has lost touch with some aspects of the religion.

2. Female / 18-24 yrs. / Any Ethnicity.
This character is LEORA, the daughter of SARAH. She can look 'Jewish' with dark features, but we are open to other looks. LEORA is a bit spunky, stubborn, and very open-minded to other cultures, although she loves the traditions of the Jewish faith. Her open-mindedness sometimes causes friction with her family.

3. Male / 18-24 yrs. / African American.
This character is MARK, LEORA's boyfriend. The character is supposed to be an Ethiopian Jew, which causes tension and confusion among LEORA's traditionally white Jewish family. MARK is easygoing, indepedent, and strong-willed.

4. Male / 41-50 yrs. / Any Ethnicity.
This character is AARON, the father of the family. He loves following the traditions, but is more open-minded, and does not feel guilty for picking and choosing which traditions he celebrates.

5. Male / 6-10 yrs. / Any Ethnicity.
This is BRANDON, SARAH's nephew. He is bit of an attention-seeker, due to the fact that his mom is barely home. He is very needy, but really enjoys spending time with his family.

6. Female / 61+ yrs. / Any Ethnicity.
This character is BUBBIE RACHEL, the quintessential Jewish grandmother, who is always nagging her family members and judging them, but is doing it because she just really cares about them.

Concept
The scene starts during an 8 year-olds birthday party and he is about to get his gift which is an action-figure of the hero of the video game. The kids all want to play with it and torture it. The story is a parody and is funny; however it has violent scenes, shows blood and the use of weapons.
La scène commence lors de l’anniversaire du garçon de 8 ans et le moment d’ouvrir les cadeaux est arrivé. Le cadeau est le personnage principal du jeu vidéo. Les enfants sont super excités et veulent tous jouer avec. L’histoire est une parodie et à l’intention d’être drôle; par contre il y’a des scènes de violence contenant des scènes montrant du sang et des armes.

Hugo a également été en nomination pour le Masque de la découverte de l'année, 12e édition de La Soirée des Masques, pour le rôle de Niki dans Le langue à langue des chiens de roche, Théâtre du Trident. Avec ses multiples années d'expérience dans le domaine, Hugo sera en mesure d'enseigner à nos élèves l'art du métier.

WOW MOVIE ROLE FOR KARL GRABOSHAS!! -JRP TEACHER/PROFESSEUR

Karl Graboshas, un de nos professeur d'acting à JRP Montréal vient de dénicher un role dans le nouveau film avec Sean William Scott, Jay Baruchel, Alison Scott, et Liev Shreiver. Il jouera le role d'un joueur de hockey russe plûtot arrogant, appelé Igor (un role principal), qui fait partie de la même équipe que Sean William Scott (American Pie). Le film s'appelle Goon et traite d'une équipe de hockey mineur.

Bravo à Karl et nous avons hâte de voir un de nos profs au grand écran!

Karl Graboshas, one of our teachers here at JRP Montreal just landed a leading role in an upcoming movie that will be shot in Winnipeg, called Goon. The movie will star Sean William Scott, Jay Baruchel, Alison Scott, and Liev Shreiver. Karl will be playing a cocky russian minor league hockey player named Igor (a principal role), who is a teammate of Sean William Scott's character(Sean is famous for his role in American Pie). The movie is based on the book by Doug Smith and Adam Frattasio, Goon: The True Story of an Unlikely Journey into Minor League Hockey.

Bonjour à tous, parents et élèves,

Nous sommes présentement en train de préparer notre session d'obtobre 2010. Comme toujours, les cours offerts sont le chant, "acting" et le mannequinat. Nous sommes très heureux d'avoir parmi nous Hondo Flemming, notre nouveau professeur pour "acting" et pour le mannequinat. Ce sera sa deuxième session parmi nous! De plus, notre session d'orientation pour parents et élèves aura lieu le mercredi, 20 octobre 2010. Les cours vont commencer le samedi suivant la rencontre, soit le 23 octobre 2010 et le showcase sera le 6 novembre 2010.

Attention to all, parents and students,

We are currently working on our upcoming session for the month of October 2010. As usual, our offered classes are vocals, acting and modelling. We are very proud to have as part of our team the very talented Hondo Flemming, our new teacher for acting and modelling. It will be Hondo's second session of teaching here at JRP. Also, our orientation night will be held on Wednesday October 20th for parents and students. Classes will start on Saturday October 23rd, 2010 and the showcase will take place on November 6th.

IPOP 2010 SUIVI - FOLLOW UP EMILY ESSAIN

Suite à IPOP Las Vegas 2010, Emily Essain n'a pas encore choisi quelle agence aura le privilège de la représenter. Emily continue de suivre des cours ici à John Robert Powers Montréal. Elle a participé au showcase du mois d'août et du mois de septembre. Elle a également auditionné pour “The Wizard of Oz” à New York le 11 septembre 2010. Elle nous a envoyé ces deux superbes photos de son plus récent photo shoot.

Following IPOP Las Vegas 2010, Emily Essain still has not decided on which agency will have the honor of representing her. She is still training here at John Robert Powers Montreal. She also took part in the August and September 2010 showcases. She auditionned for "The Wizard of Oz" in New York on September 11th 2010.
